Work Package 08: Network management

Abstract

Management of the Network will be undertaken via an Executive Board, chaired by the Coordinator, Professor Allan Cumming (Edinburgh). Vice-Chair of the Executive and of the Network will be Karel van Liempt (Antwerp). Workpackage leaders with a seat on the Executive will be Ulrike Arnold, Kiki Thermos, Helen Cameron, Madalena Patricio, Chris van Schravendik, Michael Ross. Organisations represented on the Executive will be AMEE, EUMS, EMA, EMSA. Deputies will be allowed, but each workpackage and organisation will be entitled to send only one representative to each Executive meeting. A full-time Coordinating Administrator will be employed by the Coordinating Centre and will be a member of the Executive. The Executive will meet bi-annually, one meeting being coincident with the AGM. It will receive reports from each workpackage and from the Coordinator, including financial and management reports. These will be monitored against workplan schedules.

Each Annual General Meeting of the Network will be combined with an "Emergent Theme" Symposium (2010, New Technologies; 2011, Professionalism; 2012, Research on Medical Education). All member institutions will be entitled to send one delegate at the expense of the Network, and other delegates on a self-funding basis. The AGM will receive reports from the Executive and workpackage leaders, measure progress against the workplans, and where appropriate, endorse and approve deliverables on behalf of the Network.

A local steering group in the University of Edinburgh, consisting of the Coordinator, the Coordinating Administrator, Fiona Willox, Helen Cameron and Michael Ross, will be responsible for the overall coordination of the Network, including liaison with the Commission, financial oversight and budgeting, organisation and support of meetings, and centralised support services such as website design and maintenance, questionnaire design, survey administration, statistical analysis, and translation.
